Payments

Choose how your customers pay for their trips: driver payment or online card payment via Stripe.

Updated July 2026

ClickChauffeur lets you decide how your customers pay: directly to the driver (on board during the trip) or online by card when they book. These settings live in Settings, under the Payments tab. You must enable at least one payment method for your booking module to work.

The two payment methods

In the Payment methods card (under the Payments tab), two toggles let you enable or disable each method. You can turn on just one or both at the same time.

  • Driver payments — the customer pays the driver directly (cash, card on board, etc.). The booking is confirmed without any online payment: your customers book, then pay at pickup.
  • Online payments — the customer pays online by card via Stripe when they book. The amount is collected into your connected bank account.

On the customer’s side: the choice at booking time

If you enable both methods, the customer chooses at the payment step:

  • Driver payment — payment directly to the driver. The booking is sent, the driver confirms, and settlement happens on the day of the trip.
  • Online payment — secure online payment with our partner Stripe. The customer enters their card and confirms immediately.

If you enable only one method, the customer has no choice to make: the active method applies automatically.

Connecting your bank account (Stripe)

Online payment requires a bank account connected to Stripe to receive the funds. As long as the Online payments option is off, this card stays inactive.

To activate it, in the Payments tab, Bank account card:

  1. First turn on the Online payments toggle.
  2. Click Connect my account.
  3. You are redirected to Stripe to create or link your account and enter your banking details.
  4. Once registration is complete, you return to ClickChauffeur: the status of your Stripe account and your Card payments is displayed.

Statuses displayed

Once the connection is established, the Bank account card shows:

  • Stripe account — Active, Inactive or Pending (depending on how far along your Stripe registration is).
  • Card payments — whether cards are accepted on your account.

Until your Stripe registration is fully finalised on their side, the status may remain Pending: complete the information Stripe requests to activate it.

Managing or disconnecting your account

  • Manage my account — opens your Stripe space to update your banking details or review your payouts.
  • Disconnect — dissociates your account from ClickChauffeur. This does not delete your Stripe account: you can reconnect later. Once disconnected, online payment can no longer be collected until an account is linked again.

Free plan

The free plan only allows driver payment. Online payment (and therefore the Stripe connection) is reserved for paid plans: the Online payments toggle is locked there with the note “Online payment requires a paid plan.”

To collect card payments at booking time, upgrade to a Monthly or Annual plan. See the Pricing page.

In summary

  • Driver payment: available on all plans, including the free one. The customer books without paying online and settles on board.
  • Online payment: paid plans only, via Stripe, after connecting your bank account.
  • Enable at least one payment method to keep your module functional.

To put your module online once your payments are set up, see the Getting started guide.
